The Income Tax Return filing is completely online now.
Many times it may happen that we forget the login password. Without the login password, it will not be possible to do anything on the IT site.
Here we look at the methods of resetting the Login Password at Income tax portal.
Step 1 - Visit https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/login
Step 3 - Enter your User ID which is your PAN
Step 4 - You will be asked for Password. Just below that there is an option of forget password. Click on the same.
Step 5 - You will be again asked to enter your User ID i.e. PAN
Step 6 - Three options will be provided to reset the Password
Option 1 - OTP on mobile no. registered with Aadhar
Option 2 - Upload Digital Signature Certificate
Option 3 - Use e-filing OTP
Step 7 - Choose the option which is easier for you i.e. if your Aadhar mobile is linked- go for option 1.
If the same is not linked, go for Option 3 in which 2 otps will go to mobile and email id which were initially provided at the time of registration.
If you have Digital Signature - you can also choose option 2
Step 8 - Click the desired option. OTP will be asked. Enter the same.
Step 9 - Option to set new password will be there. Pls enter the new password
Step 10 - On final clicking, the new password would be updated successfully. You can login with the new password.
