What are MSME Enterprises ?
MSME Enterprise is classified into three categories based on the following criteria :
1. Micro Enterprise
An Enterprise is categorised as Micro Enterprise if :
(a) Investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed Rs. 1 Crore and the turnover of the Enterprise does not exceed Rs. 5 Crore.
2. Small Enterprise
An Enterprise is categorised as Small Enterprise if :
(a) Investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed Rs. 5 Crore and the turnover of the Enterprise does not exceed Rs. 50 Crore.
3. Medium Enterprise
An Enterprise is categorised as Medium Enterprise if :
(a) Investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed Rs. 50 Crore and the turnover of the Enterprise does not exceed Rs. 250 Crore.
Requirements for MSME Registration
What are the requirements for getting MSME Registration ?
1. Only Aadhar No. is required for MSME Registration.
2. There is no other requirement i.e. documents required for this Registration.
3. The Aadhar No. should be linked with Mobile no. since it is an OTP based procedure.
4. The aadhar No. should be of :
(a) Proprietor in case of Proprietorship
(b) Any Managing Partner in case of Partnership Firm
(c) The Karta in case of Hindu Undivided Family i.e. HUF
(d) The Authorised Signatory in case of Company, LLP, Society or Trust
5. PAN is must for MSME i.e. Udyam Registration
6. In case ITR is being filed, the details of turnover and Plant & Machinery will be captured through ITR filed. In case no ITR is filed, the details will have to be provided on self-declaration basis.
Registration Process for MSME Udyam Registration
1. Registration of MSME is fully online.
2. The portal for registration is https://udyamregistration.gov.in
3. There is no registration fee for this registration at govt. portal as given above.
4. The Registration is Aadhar OTP based. The Aadhar no. duly linked with mobile no. is must for this registration.
5. Only basic informations such as PAN, address details of Plant/Unit and Registered Office, Bank Account details, no. of employees/staff and NIC codes will be required for this registration.
6. The details such as Investment in Plant & Machinery and Turnover will be online validated through PAN. In case of new undertakings and those not filing IT returns, the information is to be provided on Self-declaration basis.
7. After filiing the complete form online, it generally takes 4-5 days to complete the registration process.
8. Udyam Registration Certificate is generated after completion & verification of all informations which can be downloaded from the portal. The certificate is barcoded.
Benefits of MSME Registration
There are several benefits of taking MSME i.e Udyam Registration for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
1. It acts as seperate identity for any Enterprise.
2. It is a one time permanent registration and there is no need of renewal.
3. It is completely paperless and there is no need of any documents except Aadhar card.
4. All the activities of an Enterprise i.e. Manufacturing, Trading and/or services can be clubbed in one registration.
5. Udyam Registration is beneficial for availing various government schemes such as Credit guarantee Scheme, Public Procurement policy of the Govt.
6. The Enterprise registered under MSME gets protection against delayed payments made to them.
7. MSMEs are covered under priority sector lending from banks. Thus registered MSME gets priority in getting bank loans and also subsidised interest rates are applicable for them.
