How to E-verify your Income Tax Return

Income Tax return has to be filed online now-a-days. After filing online Income Tax return, the signed ITR acknowledgement has to be physically send to CPC-Bangaluru within 120 days of filing of the ITR.

Many a times, the taxpayer finds it difficult to send the signed ITR to Bangluru (which is to be send by Post or Speed Post only) specially in these pandemic times.

To resolve this issue, Income tax department has come out with many options to e-verify the ITR wherein after doing so, there is no need to physically send the ITR-V to Bangaluru. The process is easy and fast.

Here we look at various options available to e-verify the ITR.


1. E-verify the ITR through your Net banking

Under this method, you have to login to your netbanking account. Then proceed to income tax efiling link provided by your bank. Then click on e-verify link provided against the return to be verified. Your return gets verified.


2. E-verify your return through Bank ATMs

Under this method, swipe your ATM card. Click on PIN for e-filing. You will receive an EVC on your registered mobile number. Login to your e-filing portal and select option as e-verify return through Bank ATM. Enter the EVC received on your registered mobile number. Your return will be verified.


3.E-verity through Aadhar OTP


Under this method, go to e-fling portal and login. Make sure that your aadhar number is linked to your PAN. Go to e-verify section. Select the method of verification as Aadhar OTP. Generate Aadhar OTP. You will receive an OTP on your mobile linked with Aadhar. Enter the OTP on the site. Your return will be verified.


4. E-verify return via your Bank Account No.


Under this method, login to your e-filing account. Go to pre-validate your bank account under profile section. Pre-validate the bank account by entering the relevant details. Once the bank account is prevalidated, go to e-verify section. Choose the prevalidate bank account EVC option.Once you click that, an EVC will be received on your registered mobile no. Enter the same and your return will be validated.


5. E-verify return via Demat Account


Under this method, login to your e-filing account. Go to pre-validate your demat Account under profile section. Pre-validate the demat account by entering the relevant details. Once the demat account is prevalidated, go to e-verify section. Choose the prevalidate demat account EVC option. once you click that, an EVC will be received on your registered mobile no. Enter the same and your return will be validated.
